Salary Range: $65,000 - 75,000/yearly
About The Current Open Role
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to oversee the daily administrative and accounting operations of our dealership. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes, supporting financial reporting, maintaining compliance with company and manufacturer standards, and leading the administrative team.
What We're Looking For
- Oversee the daily operations of the dealership
office, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to company policies and
procedures.
- Supervise and support the accounting and
administrative team, providing coaching, training, and ongoing guidance.
- Review and approve vehicle deals prior to posting,
ensuring accuracy of contracts, financing, incentives, taxes, and
supporting documentation.
- Oversee deal posting, funding, and reconciliation
processes while ensuring compliance with manufacturer, lender, and
regulatory requirements.
- Manage key accounting schedules, including vehicle
inventory, floorplan reconciliations, factory receivables, and warranty
receivables.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by
preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Monitor contracts-in-transit (CIT) and collaborate
with the Sales and Finance departments to ensure timely funding and issue
resolution.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank
deposits, and cash management functions.
- Ensure accurate remittance and reconciliation of
extended warranties, aftermarket products, and manufacturer programs.
- Maintain internal controls and identify opportunities
to improve office processes and operational efficiencies.
- Serve as the primary resource for the dealership
management system (DMS), assisting with troubleshooting, process
improvements, and staff training.
- Partner closely with dealership leadership to support
financial performance and maintain accurate reporting.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or office
management experience, with at least 3 years in an automotive dealership
environment.
- Strong knowledge of dealership accounting principles,
including deal posting, vehicle inventory, receivables, reconciliations,
and month-end close.
- Experience working with Reynolds & Reynolds
(ERA-IGNITE) or a comparable dealership management system (DMS).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with
Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and
problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to
detail.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the
ability to effectively support, mentor, and hold team members accountable.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while
maintaining a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment.
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting,
Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an
asset.
